So many people have asked me how they would cook bread and other goodies for their families if there were no electricity. That is a fair question, and fortunately there is a simple answer. After much research and after visiting with some real pros I am convinced that every home should have a solar oven.
A high quality solar oven will last for years. Solar ovens are light weight and
portable. If for some reason you need to evacuate they can go with you. They give 72 hour kits a whole new identity. They can be used regardless of how cold it is outside as long as the sun is shining. The fuel for the oven is free. You can cook just about anything you want in the oven; it will even pasteurize water. You can keep your kitchen cool in the summer, cut down on energy costs, and practice valuable survival skills that will bless your family in times of need.
As if the neighbors don't think you are already strange enough, you can now prop open your solar oven in the front yard and bake beans for the neighborhood BBQ. Just think of all the gossip.
For the next several months I will be practicing solar cooking. I will post my experiences here so that you can learn and hopefully laugh from my successes and failures. I have enlisted the Munch Bunch to critique my work and they will let you know what they think as well.
I will include pictures and recipes.
If you want in on the action just let me know. If you live in the area we will have to get together for our first annual Group Solar Cook Off near the end of the summer and show each other what we have learned. Bring your family, your fishing gear, and your tent. We'll make a weekend of it!
If you would like to order a solar oven you can contact me and I will have one shipped directly to you.
The cost is 235.00 which includes shipping to your home. Tax is not included, sorry.
